Meet Kristy O'Neil, sponsored artist (experienced competitor), Australian Body Art Festival 2017

KRISTY O'NEIL already has a swag of awards under her brush belt, and you can bet she'll be aiming to add another title (or two) to her credentials when she competes at the Australian Body Art Festival in Cooroy, this April.

We are absolutely delighted that Kris has agreed to represent Team Face Paint Shop Australia as our 'experienced competitor' and team mentor. This is the first time she has taken up the challenge to compete at the Festival, which was previously held in Eumundi.

Based in Adelaide, Kris launched her face painting business 'Mask Face and Body Art' in 2008. She's still waiting to surface for air.

"It has been a wonderful, magical time of my artistic career and I don’t see an end in sight, rather, I’m just getting warmed up," Kris said.

Her talents extend beyond face and body art and she creates pieces of commissioned art for clients on a daily basis.

"But nothing compares to body art and I feel totally consumed by it.

"I love nothing better than to immerse myself in the creative process of designing a body piece, whether its for a competition or a client, either way I get to lose myself in my imagination with boundless enthusiasm and energy."

Not only a versatile artist, Kris also has lots of experience as an instructor - helping people of all ages and levels of experience to gain confidence an skills in the art of face painting, both in her city of Adelaide, and at the Australian Body Art Awards held annually in Melbourne. Later this year, Kris will head to New Zealand to teach at FABACONZ.

"I love to teach other artists and find joy in sharing my love for this art. When people compliment me on my work my standard response is, well I can’t sing and I can’t dance, but I have always been artistic."
